Opal Ring

A commissioned piece, the client supplied me with this amazing opal doublet that has every color in the spectrum and asked for a SS cuttlefish cast ring. This is by far the best ring I've made - I cast the shank straight and spent a long time filing and forming it around the bezel cup. My fingers are definitely worse for wear - a blood blister (I hammered my finger - thankfully it was the rawhide mallet and not the steel chasing hammer!), three calloused fingertips, various places where I sawed into my skin by accident, and a file jab later, this ring is finished! Henry keeps trying to swipe it.

Sometimes the best pieces evolve around a stunning gem.
