Artist's Comments

The World Pin again, done in garnet. I've wanted to do a garnet version for a long time. I have to thank Cynthia for prompting this -- I didn't think we had time or money before the show, but she bought the garnets and told me to make it. So here it is.

I think these keep getting bigger each time...

(I made this one in record time -- about 4 hours not including tumbling. Go Little Torch!)

.925, Almandine garnets.

Yes, truely gorgeous... as was the Amber version. I would love to see this is Moldavite, or Az Mal for the main stones and Moldavite for the trailing stones. Just an all out beautiful design! :)

Oooo, or even multicolors of Tourmaline.

Hehe, beware the curse.

Thanks, it's nice to have a design that encourages experimentation with different stones. Those are good suggestions. I think I'll have to become or befriend a good lapidary to explore most of the possibilities. :)

Now that really grabs me. I'd want to find a dealer that could provide stones that would steady color gradient through the design. Same for the amber... the current variation is haphazard. Still pretty, but a controlled gradient would be the next level.

No matter what I do I just can't seem to master the little torch... I'm better off using the smallest tip on the big one... :-/ I've melted so many things with that little one...
